Travel or Motorcycle

Travel or Motorcycle

Before I started traveling, I had a choice to choose between travel or motorcycle. I have had problems with my personal finance and that’s because I spent, spent, and spent more on unnecessary stuff. And also I had no budget at all – lack of financial literacy. And I was not living an healthy lifestyle. That’s when I decided to make the change in my life – change my lifestyle to have an healthy lifestyle, educate myself about money management, and started to put money aside and save more.

I met a fellow deaf skydiver from England for Deaf World Record 2001 in San Marcos, Texas and we became friends instantly and talked anything and skydiving and then the following DWR 2001 event, he introduced me to other fellow deaf skydivers other places around United Kingdom and kept in touch from there. That sparked my idea to travel to England to travel and skydive with them.

I was shopping around to buy a new motorcycle but with the idea of travel opportunity – I changed my mind for 2 big reasons. I didn’t want to make payments on a motorcycle for the next 3 to 5 years the following down payment. And I don’t want to make payments on liability insurance. I had a reliable car for a typical college student who commutes 30 minutes each way everyday. Don’t get me wrong, it is because I don’t want to lose the opportunity to travel the 2nd time. I had the opportunity few years back but I made a bad decision. I knew I had to get out to travel overseas. And traveling is a once in a life time opportunity.

As a result, I got to travel to England and met up with more deaf skydivers and had blast together and traveled to Spain together and up to Scotland all by myself for backpacking and hiking for 3 days.

I have no regrets to this day and I haven’t bought a motorcycle since.
